Adding to Claude Cowork worked perfectly, but I keep getting an error with Claude Code... anyone else?

Emily Kramer's avatar

What's the error? And did you restart Claude and try again (classic advice but this seems to matter a lot here)

Kelly's avatar

Same thing for me - I'm getting a "failed to add marketplace" error. Will try a full restart just in case!

Devon Arredondo's avatar

This was happening to me, the restart fixed everything

Emily Kramer's avatar

I’ve learned you have to try and try again sometimes in Claude code. Sorry this isn’t as turnkey as I wish it was!

This is awesome! I was able to add to my Claude app but not Claude Code. Here's more info (restarting, re-authenticating, reconnecting didn't work):

- Platform: Claude Code CLI (macOS, Darwin 25.3.0)

- Command used: claude mcp add mkt1-mcp --transport sse

https://mkt1-mcp.data-1c2.workers.dev/mcp

Authentication succeeds, but SSE connection fails with a 400 Bad Request

error.

Thanks Kim! We just fixed an issue with connecting via the CLI.

Can you run these two commands to reconnect?

claude mcp remove mkt1-mcp

claude mcp add mkt1-mcp --transport http https://mkt1-mcp.data-1c2.workers.dev/mcp

Then restart Claude Code and it should connect. Let me know if you hit any issues!

That worked, thank you!

Feedback welcome!

This is fantastic! Thank you! I've been training my Cladue environment on the MKT1 framework when working on marketing projects and this will be a huge benefit!

Just subscribed! Exciting to be able to use the plugin, big fan of Humanizer since it came out.

@emily i'm trying to get some details on this article but for some reason it says i need to "upgrade" to see parts of it. I'm already a paid member so unsure if there's somethign else i need to do ?

Halley Johnson's avatar

I’ve just made an update, let me know if you are still having trouble!

Halley Johnson's avatar

Thanks for flagging this Alina, I can’t see this on our end…can you share some more details? Where does it cut off? Sorry for the trouble!

Halley Johnson's avatar

Thank you! Are you seeing any content below that button?

Halley Johnson's avatar

I’ve just made an update, let me know if you are still having trouble!

Alina Vandenberghe's avatar

ok it works now for me, thank you @halley!!!!

Bianca's avatar

I'm having the same issue. I get the "upgrade" button even though I'm a paid subscriber.

A quick comment: You don't need an MCP to distribute Skills. Can you think about making those Skills downloadable?

Emily Kramer's avatar

We are doing it this way for a few reasons: we can add new versions and immediately give everyone access (no updates needed) and we can authenticate users this way. We had a plugin at first but it didn’t solve for the first piece.

Kate Connally's avatar

Excited to get rolling. This is a brilliant way to help our community navigate the torrent of new tools and techniques. Our start-up is on an enterprise Claude account. Do you have instructions for our admin to enable me to install the MCP? It doesn't look like I have permissions to install a custom MCP from my team member account.

Emily Kramer's avatar

Anyone that has a subscription gets access. Free subscribers get access to the newsletter skill, paid gets access to everything. Once you set up the strategy skill, you save for your team (it’s not part of our MCP server anymore if that makes sense) and anyone can use.

Emily Kramer's avatar

We are doing more research here. Essentially you need to get the admin to add it a custom MCP, but we aren’t sure if it turns it on for everyone. Stay tuned!

Kate Connally's avatar

Tricky! The intention is that I will setup the instance-- as the lead marketer. Then, as I see utility in it, we would extend subscriptions to others on the team so they can install too. Would you all be able to match installs against your sub list?

Halley Johnson's avatar

Hi Kate, I've just added some instructions for Claude Enterprise here: https://newsletter.mkt1.co/i/189593587/for-claude-enterprise

Let me know if you have any questions! I hope this helps your team get set up.

Jordan Petrov's avatar

Added to Claude Code, but cannot authenticate. https://mkt1-mcp.data-1c2.workers.dev/authorize returns "Internal Server Error". Any workarounds?

Emily Kramer's avatar

It should work now. We were doing some fixes last night and it may have been down when you tried.

Jordan Petrov's avatar

Thanks. Now "Internal Server Error" is fixed, however new error prompts "Authentication successful, but server reconnection failed. You may need to manually restart Claude Code for the changes to take effect.". The error still remains after Claude Code restart.

Halley Johnson's avatar

Hey Jordan, sorry for the issues here! Can you confirm if you already tried disconnecting & reconnecting the MCP Server? There are instructions for doing this in the post above—let me know if this doesn’t fix it for you.

Jordan Petrov's avatar

Hey Halley, connected and disconnected 2-3 times, but I get the same error. Now I authenticate successfully, however get an error "Authentication successful, but server reconnection failed. You may need to manually restart Claude Code for the changes to take effect."; then as I restart, it's the same.

Halley Johnson's avatar

Hey Jordan! Thank you so much for your patience here. You helped us uncover an issue with connecting via the CLI.

We've fixed it on our end and updated the instructions. Can you run these two commands to reconnect?

claude mcp remove mkt1-mcp

claude mcp add mkt1-mcp --transport http https://mkt1-mcp.data-1c2.workers.dev/mcp

Then restart Claude Code and it should connect. Let me know if you hit any issues!

Jordan Petrov's avatar

Thanks Halley! Ran both commands, restarted, connecting fine. Going to put it through its paces now.

Emily Kramer's avatar

Digging in here. Usually the reset helps. Sorry this has been such a challenge. Will get back to you

Sarah Warn's avatar

Excited about this. I've been a longtime free subscriber andI just upgraded to a paid account to try it out. The Claude install went fine but Substack keeps telling Claude that I don't have a paid account with you. Maybe it's just a small lag, but could you check that my account shows as paid on your end? Thanks!

Emily Kramer's avatar

There's a few minute lag in how we have to build out the paid subscriber list that Claude checks. (Technical details you didn't ask for: Substack has no API, so we use an email notification scraping system we built, it's all a bit nuts). Try one more time and if not, let me know!

Also - You may need a Claude paid account to install a custom connector/MCP server, getting mixed info on whether this is true or not. It's worth it.

Brad's avatar

Ive got the same issue. Its been about 30 mins since I paid for the subscription. I will try again a bit later. Is there something else I can do in the mean time?

Sarah Warn's avatar

That worked - thanks!

Yiwen's avatar

Emily, would it be possible to make the skills downloadable? My ChatGPT is actually proactively surfacing skills to me and I'd like to try it

Halley Johnson's avatar

Hi Yiwen, we just added instructions for using this with ChatGPT - experimental! We haven't fully tested this yet. Would love any feedback if you try it.

https://newsletter.mkt1.co/i/189593587/for-chatgpt-now-in-alpha

Emily Kramer's avatar

We are making changes today to make this stuff easier to access via an MCP server. we will provide ChatGPT instructions too. Stay tuned!
